12 Mar Rhubarb at Melbourne International Comedy Festival
Featuring Kate Jenkinson, Pinky Beecroft and a collection of Australia’s most loved and messed-up personalities.
at the Melba Spiegeltent, Collingwood
Truth or rhubarb? That’s the question — in this fast, funny and fascinating game-show, panel-show hybrid extravaganza, featuring stories from a changing cast of celebrities and specially-selected nutbags.
Essentially Rhubarb is a game-show where contestants tell strange and very personal stories – some of which may be true, and some of which may be complete and utter rhubarb. It’s up to you and the panel to decide.
Confused? Good. Come along and see for yourself – at the very least you’ll learn the perverted secrets of an eclectic bunch of oddballs. There will be laughter, tears, and a truck-load of ‘what the hell’?
The show is held together – and at times torn apart – by a core team of two: Kate Jenkinson (Wentworth, Super Fun Night, Offspring), Pinky Beecroft (Machine Gun Fellatio, The Glasshouse, Hiding, musician writer weirdo). They’ll be joined by a floating bunch of Australia’s national treasures, including but not limited to comedians, actors, musicians, dancers and one dog-fosterer.
Featuring special guests:
Wednesday 4th April: Gretel Killeen (TV presenter/guru), Andrew McClelland (comedian/DJ) PLUS a surprise international comedian special-guest.
Thursday 5th April: Damian Cowell (musician, ex-TISM), Andrew Hansen (The Chaser) and Yvie Jones (Gogglebox)
Friday 6th April: Bernard Curry (Wentworth), Jackson Tozer (The Ex PM), Anna Go-Go (Anna’s GoGo Academy)
Saturday 7th April: Candy Bowers (comic writer / actor), Mark Swivel (comedian), Matt Downey (weirdo).
